This summary helps you find your way. The full Terms below have the details.
1. About these Terms
These Terms of Service explain how you may use the Kinuvo app, the Kinuvo Kids app, Kinuvo’s service and this website. By creating a Kinuvo account or using the apps, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Kinuvo.
In these Terms, “Kinuvo”, “we” and “us” mean KINUVO INTERACTIVE (SMC-PRIVATE) LIMITED. “You” means the parent or guardian who uses a Kinuvo account. How we handle your family’s information is explained in our Privacy Policy.
2. About Kinuvo
Kinuvo helps you guide your child’s phone use. You use the Kinuvo app on your phone to set screen-time, app and website rules, answer your child’s requests, and see alerts, reports and location. Your child’s Android phone runs Kinuvo Kids, which applies those rules on the phone and is visible to your child. The two connect through Kinuvo’s service.
Kinuvo is a tool that supports your parenting. It doesn’t replace your care and supervision.
3. Who can use Kinuvo
Kinuvo is for parents and legal guardians. You may set up Kinuvo Kids only on a phone used by a child you’re the parent or legal guardian of. Child profiles are for children aged 1 to 17, and when your child’s phone pairs, you confirm that you’re their parent or guardian.
Children don’t create Kinuvo accounts; their phones connect to yours.
4. Your account
- Create your account or sign in with your email address and a password of at least 8 characters, or with Google or Facebook. Signing in with Apple isn’t available.
- Keep your password and your 6-digit Parent PIN private. The Parent PIN protects removing a child, disconnecting or replacing a phone, and unlocking protection on your child’s phone.
- One account serves your whole family. Anyone you let sign in to it can see your family’s information and change your rules, so share it only with people you trust, such as your child’s other parent. Separate co-parent accounts aren’t available.
- Resetting a password or Parent PIN inside the app isn’t available yet. If you forget either, contact us.
5. Your child’s profile and phone
- You connect your child’s phone by pairing it with a single-use code from the Kinuvo app, which lasts 10 minutes. Your child’s name, avatar and age are entered on their phone.
- Each child has one connected phone at a time. A family can have several children, each with their own phone and rules.
- Kinuvo Kids needs several permissions on your child’s phone to work, and explains each one to your child before it’s switched on. Our Privacy Policy lists them and what each is for (see permissions). If one is switched off, the features that depend on it stop working.
- Replacing, disconnecting or removing a child’s phone needs your Parent PIN.
6. Using Kinuvo openly and responsibly
Kinuvo is built to be used openly: Kinuvo Kids is a visible app and tells your child what it does. When you use Kinuvo, please:
- talk with your child about why you’re using it; setting it up together is a good moment;
- use it only to guide the phone use of your own child;
- follow the laws that apply to you, including those about children and about monitoring other people’s devices.
7. What you must not do
Don’t:
- set up Kinuvo Kids on a phone that isn’t used by your own child, or use Kinuvo to monitor an adult;
- hide Kinuvo Kids from the child using the phone, or mislead them about what it does;
- try to see another family’s information or use anyone else’s account;
- interfere with Kinuvo’s apps or service, overload them, or try to get around their security;
- copy, modify or reverse-engineer the apps, except where the law allows it;
- use Kinuvo to break the law or to harm anyone.
8. Phones and requirements
- The Kinuvo app for parents runs on Android.
- Kinuvo Kids needs an Android phone with Android 7.0 or newer. There’s no Kinuvo Kids for iPhone or iPad, and no version of Kinuvo for computers or the web.
- Both phones need an internet connection from time to time, and changing rules needs one.
- Location features need location set to “Allow all the time” on your child’s phone (Android 10 and newer).
- Kinuvo is available in English.
- Store links will appear on our Download page as soon as Kinuvo is available.
9. What Kinuvo does on your child’s phone
When you set rules, Kinuvo Kids applies them on your child’s phone. It pauses apps when time runs out or during a schedule, shows a calm screen instead of a blocked app, turns off internet access during an Internet Schedule, blocks the websites your Web Protection settings don’t allow, and asks for your Parent PIN before Kinuvo Kids can be removed or its protection changed.
It doesn’t delete apps, block calls or power the phone off: calls, Settings and the home screen stay usable under every rule, and so do Kinuvo Kids and its SOS button. When you remove your child or disconnect their phone, Kinuvo Kids releases its protection.
10. What Kinuvo can and can’t do
Kinuvo helps, but it has limits, and you shouldn’t rely on it alone for your child’s safety. In particular, it can’t guarantee that every harmful website is blocked, that a location is always available or exact, or that every change and alert arrives instantly.
Screen time and apps
- Blocked apps stay installed and can’t be opened; they aren’t deleted or hidden. System apps and Kinuvo Kids itself can’t be blocked or limited.
- Phone Lock has no timer: the phone stays locked until you unlock it.
- The Daily Limit is designed so that changing the phone’s clock doesn’t add time.
- A full factory reset of the phone removes Kinuvo Kids, as with any app.
- Some phone makers’ power saving can delay background activity, even with the battery exemption Kinuvo Kids asks for.
Web Protection and Internet Schedules
- Categories use curated lists of known websites, not the whole internet. You can add any site they miss.
- Web Protection works on whole websites, not individual pages, videos or searches.
- Apps or browsers that use their own private way of looking up websites may not be filtered.
- Android allows one VPN at a time, so another VPN app on your child’s phone conflicts with Web Protection and Internet Schedules.
- There’s no instant one-tap internet pause. Rules apply only to your child’s phone, not to other devices on your Wi‑Fi.
Location
- While you have Child Tracker open, Kinuvo aims to update your child’s location about every 15 seconds. That’s a target, not a guarantee: GPS, the connection and the phone can delay or prevent updates. It stops when you leave the screen, and each session ends after 30 minutes unless you continue.
- Elsewhere, Kinuvo shows the latest location your child’s phone reported, with how long ago that was, and up to 30 days of the history it reported. Paths between stops are approximate and can have gaps.
- Location needs your child’s phone to be on, with location services on and a connection to send it; Child Tracker needs both phones online. Location history recorded offline may upload later, but some points may not arrive.
- Accuracy and timing depend on GPS, signal, permissions, battery settings and the phone’s maker. A street address isn’t available for every location.
- Location can be late, approximate or unavailable, so don’t rely on it alone in an emergency. Call your local emergency number.
Emergency SOS
- Kinuvo’s SOS reaches you, not emergency services. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
- An SOS needs your child’s phone to reach the internet (it keeps trying) and your phone to receive notifications.
Connection and timing
- Rules are kept on your child’s phone and keep working offline and after a restart.
- Changes usually arrive within seconds when both phones are online. If your child’s phone is offline, they arrive when it reconnects, and your app shows “Waiting for device” until then.
- Your child’s requests for more time or to use a blocked app need a connection to send.
11. Price and payment
Kinuvo doesn’t offer paid plans, subscriptions or in-app purchases at the moment.
12. Updates
We update the apps and Kinuvo’s service to fix problems and improve them. Updates reach you through your app store. Keeping both apps up to date helps your rules work as described.
13. Kinuvo’s apps and content
The Kinuvo name and logo, the apps, Kinuvo’s service and this website belong to KINUVO INTERACTIVE (SMC-PRIVATE) LIMITED. Using Kinuvo doesn’t give you ownership of them. The apps and websites that appear in Kinuvo, including their names and icons, belong to their owners.
14. Services from other companies
Kinuvo works with services provided by other companies, such as Android and iOS, the app stores, notification delivery, maps, and Android’s location services on your child’s phone. Those services are provided under their own terms.
15. Stopping using Kinuvo
You can stop using Kinuvo at any time. To stop it on your child’s phone, remove your child or disconnect their phone in the Kinuvo app, with your Parent PIN; the phone is released and stops sharing.
You can delete your Kinuvo account in the Kinuvo app or on the web at kinuvo.net/account-deletion. A deletion request has a 7-day grace period you can cancel within. What happens to your family’s information is explained in our Privacy Policy under Removing a child and Deleting your account.
16. Changes to these Terms
When we change these Terms, we publish the new version on this page and update the “Last updated” date at the top. This page is always the current version.
